Protein is one of the most essential parts of our meal. It is the main substance in body’s tissues & vital organs. It works as building block of muscles. It is essential for repairing & building body tissues. Protein is vital for strong immunity & hormonal system.

One of the myths about our protein is that non vegetarian products are the best source of protein & vegetarian diet doesn't have adequate protein. It's just not true. It's not essential to include animal foods to get enough protein.

Here are some protein options for vegetarians

Soya Products

Soya protein is one of the few plants proteins which contain all of the essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. Soya foods are rich in calcium, potassium, iron & dietary fiber. They are rich in vitamins B1, B2, B6, E and folic acid. It reduces LDL cholesterol and coronary artery disease risk. You can use it in a variety of ways as tofu, soya milk, soya burger, and soya yogurt or soya ice cream.

Beans

Beans are called as "poor man's meat". Beans are quite high in protein & carbohydrate. They are excellent source of both soluble and insoluble fiber. You can get a variety of beans to choose from, so you will never get bored.

Nuts

Nuts are the most delicious form of protein. They contain healthy mono- and polyunsaturated fats which help to lower blood cholesterol and prevent heart disease. They are great source of several vitamins such as B & D, minerals such as magnesium, potassium, iron, potassium, calcium, iron, zinc, fluoride & antioxidants.

Whole Grains

Whole grains are rich in protein & complex carbohydrates. They are also good source of Vitamin B, minerals & enzymes & lower the risk of many chronic diseases.

Dairy Products

Dairy products like milk, cheese, yogurt etc. are excellent source of Protein & Calcium. Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends 3 to 4 servings a day of dairy products to get several key nutrients like calcium, , potassium, magnesium and vitamin A, D & B12. If you take one cup of nonfat yogurt, you will get 17 % of your estimated daily protein intake.

Protein is a combination of amino acids. In animal food we find all the essential amino acids in one source whereas usually we don’t get all the essential amino acids from one plant protein source. So we have to combine two foods to make complete protein like bean soup & wheat bread, whole grain cracker & peanut or almond butter.

To keep your leather furniture shine for a long time you must keep it clean. Daily dusting with soft dry cloths keeps its pore clean of dust particles. Clean its bottom & crevices with vacuum cleaner.

Never use lots of water & soup to clean your leather furniture as it will speed up the cracking & breaking process. Strong solvents & ammonia bleach can bleach it so never apply it on your leather furniture.

Contrary to some people believe, excessive use of leather conditioner is also harmful. Use of mild leather conditioner every 6-12 month is sufficient to keep it soft.

I am using baby wipes ever since my kids were babies. They are grown up now but baby wipes are indispensable item in my shopping list.

Besides its obvious use of cleaning baby’s bottom & face, they are my best buddy in emergency. They are very convenient & make life a lot easier with their nontraditional uses.

Art Lover’s Best Friend

If you love scrapbooking or painting then they are terrific in cleaning paint, or glue from your fingers. Your rubber stamp will be like new if you clean it with baby wipes. If your tiny tots are discovering their creative talents, you can wipe glue, colors or clay from their hands.

Ideal travel companions

Don’t forget to keep a box of baby wipe in travel. Use them to clean sudden spill at your leather seats. To remove scuff mark from sneakers, wipe clean any dirt with a damp cloth. Apply toothpaste & scrub with a toothbrush & rinse or clean with damp cloth. Black & dirty marks will be removed & your shoes will look nice again.

Hang Posters on the Wall

If you want to hang your favorite poster without damaging your wall, put small amount of toothpaste on each corner & between the edges of the poster. It’ll be easy to hang & remove whenever you want.

Nail Holes Filler

If you have ugly nail holes in your walls don’t worry. Your toothpaste will fill it in jiffy & you can paint over it when it dries.

So the first item in my list is Toothpaste (We use it daily to clean our teeth). I will post it into 2 parts so you can learn and try these tricks properly.

Toothpaste is a very common household item. We can get toothpaste in many colors and flavors. It meant for cleaning teeth and fighting cavity but its chemical composition makes it an amazing multifunctional product.

Now a days we people go to big city Malls which are generally little bit far away from our homes to buy our daily need Items like soap, food, clothes, electronic and all. There was a time when we used to go to our next neighborhood departmental store to buy the household goods but the time has changed now (even we too).

Today working people get special coupon vouchers from their organizations as a part of salary or incentives which can be easily redeem at a Big Malls so they just head towards the big shopping centers fitted with cool A/C and offer a great degree of choices.

But there is one more problem (make a guess), well it’s a discount trouble.

Go to any Mall you will find similar item from different manufacturers with different types of discount like Buy One Get One or 50% Off or even Buy 1 Get 2 free (that’s really make me laugh).

Now what to do? Have you heard about the term Window Shopping? Yeah that’s our special secret weapon to fight this battle. Make a needed Item list first and if you live closer to the Mall then I suggest you to go there a day before and visit different shop outlets so that you can get an estimate about the budget and also find the product with the maximum discount price. It will take some extra time but I am sure you will make a more efficient deal at the end.

There are still many Confusing Factors. What’s that? The main thing is that two different company outlets in a same Mall generally sell similar products made by different manufacturers. For example If you want to buy a Ketchup sauce then one will be selling Heinz and other will be selling Nestle one. So there will be a slight difference in the cost price.

So you have to work little hard to make right decision but Consumer is the King. Just use your past experience and make a deal.

Protien Enriched Chicken Soup

This post is in response to one of my visitors Satyajit who asked me for protein enriched soup in his comment.
   Chicken is highly rich in protien which is essential for healthy body. Protien is neccessary for healthy muscles because our muscles are partly made of it. Besides making muscles, it also helps in building skin,nail & hair. Protein helps to fight disease by keeping the immune system of our body function properly.
   So here the recipe of protien enriched chicken soup

from the book titled The Foolproof Cookbook For Brides Bachelors & Those Who Hate Cooking by my favourite writer Rohini Singh.

Ingredient

1 onion,finally chopped
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
2 cloves
1-1/2 tbalespoons of oil or butter
1 small stick of cinnamom
A few peppercorns
Green chillies finely chopped
2-3 chicken necks,caracasses & other tiny pieces
1 good piece chicken(optional)

Method

Heat oil or butter in a pressure cooker. Add some cloves,cinnamom & peppercorns. Fry for a few seconds then add finely chopped onion & green chillies. Fry till the onion starts turning brown. Now add grated ginger salt & chicken pieces & fry till the chicken begins to brown.Now add 2-1/2 cups of water ,close the pressure cooker & after the first whistle reduce heat & keep on fire for the next 30 minutes. Open the cooker, when pressure reduce & stain the soup. Take the meat off from the good pieces of chicken & chop it. Add them to the soup & serve hot.

Variation : Chicken Noddle Soup

After straing the soup & adding chopped chicken to it ,put it back on the fire, bring to a simmer & drop in a small handful of broken noddles. Cook about 6 minutes or till the noddle are tender..
   Finely chopped fresh coriander added to this soup before serving makes a delightful addition.

Whenever I go out for a foodie party to a restaurant, I always start it with a starter soup. My best one is Tomato Soup.But do you know these tasty yummy soups also have so much fat and calories. But I know a great way to make it more lighter for your little tummy and health too.
So here is the small procedure to do it.Refrigerate the stock in a vessel and after sometime, fat will come at the top and gets accumulated into a hard thick form. Now get a spoon or fork from your favourite kitchen and remove it easily.
You can even drop ice cubes into the pot & stir. The Fat will cling to the cubes.Or, wrap ice cubes in paper towel or cheesecloth & skim over the top of the soup. Take care to discard the cubes before they melt.

Unnatural Posture
   High heels deform your natural posture. It places your heel unnaturally above your toes which causes your lower part of the body to lean forward and to keep the balance your upper body leans back. It puts your body out of its natural alignment.
Back pain
   Wearing high heels requires throwing your weight forward which changes the position of spine putting pressure on nerves in the back causing pain, tingling & numbness
Fall
   High heel makes your feet is in supinated position which puts you at risk for losing your balance causing broking ankles & other disabling injuries.
Osteoarthritis
   Osteoarthritis is twice as common in women because high heels increase the pressure on the inside of the knee by 26% which elevates the risk for this very painful disease.
Foot Problems
   High heels put greater pressure on the ball of the foot which causes metatarsalgia which is pain in the ball of the foot. The pressure increases with the height of the heels. Wearing a 3inch heels increases 76% pressure on forefoot than a flat shoe.
   The increased pressure leads to Morton’s Neuroma which is 10 times more common in women than men. A narrow toe box of high heels cause thickening of tissue around a nerve between the third & fourth toes, which can lead to numbness & pain in the toes.
It can also lead to Sciatica which is triggering pain & numbness down the feet.
Deep Vein Thrombosis
   There is a risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis if you stand for longer period of time in high heels causing blood clots form in deep veins, mainly in legs.
Hammertoes

   A narrow pointed toe box that often found in of high heels force the second, third or fourth toe into a permanently bent position at the middle joint that resembles a hammer which can’t be strengthened even when barefoot.
Bunions
   The narrow toe box of high heels cause painful swelling and bone enlargement at the base joint of the big toe which bends towards other toes leading to redness & pain.
Pump Bump
   Pump Bump also known as Hugland Deformity is a painful bony enlargement on the back of the heel resulted by straps and rigid back of the pump style high heels.
Contraction Of Calf Muscles
   Calf muscles contracts when you walk in high heels. Long term wear lead to permanently stiffening and shortening of the muscle which cause them fatigue faster & decrease flexibility during running.
Headaches
   Wearing high heels put the spine out of its natural alignment causing muscles behind the neck stiff & putting pressure on nerves that can lead to chronic headache.
Achilles Tendonitis
   Walking in the high heels results in shifting body’s natural alignment forward putting pressure on the Achilles Tendonitis which runs up the back of the leg from the heel. The higher the heel the shorter the tendon becomes. Wearing high heels constantly shorten & tighten the tendon permanently making you unable to wear anything but very high heels. You’ll get a lot of pain at the back of the heel when you try to put your foot into a flat shoe.
   When the heel is constantly elevated, Achilles Tendonitis which runs up the back of the leg from the heel, shorten & tighten permanently The higher the heel the shorter the tendon becomes,making you unable to wear anything but very high heels. You’ll get a lot of pain at the back of the heel when you try to put your foot into a flat shoe.
In-Grown Toenails
     Incidence of in-grown toenails & nail infection is higher in high heel wearer as it squeezes and squashes the toes.
   You may not have these problems in your teen or early twenties but after reaching 30 or 40 years of age, you’ll suddenly experience all the pain, deformation & several types of health problems.
   The best way to avoid these problems is to stop wearing high heels. If it’s not possible than wear it on special occasions & no longer than three hours at a time. Whenever u get opportunity slip those high heels off & give some rest to your feet & massage it with your hands. Spend time daily to stretch & exercise your muscles to increase stability & flexibility.
   By using it in moderation & taking care of your feet you can avoid the ill effects of these Killer Heels.

Living in small house is a challenging task. We feel the need to stretch out our small space & make our room look larger. It is possible to fool the eye & make rooms look larger by some decorating tricks.

Cut The Clutter

Take a critical look at your room & see if there is anything that is not necessary. Remove the unnecessary items. A cluttered room looks small than it really is. Get your room clutter free .Arrange things neatly & hide or keep out of sight items which are not in everyday use.

We want to display our collectables but it’s wise to divide it in small groups & display one group at a time. It’ll give the room a neat & fresh look.

Enhance Floor Space

Increase floor space by keeping as many items out of floor as possible & make full use of space saving closet organizing & storage compartments like shelves & racks.

We can create more floor space by using wall space but remember that too much items on wall will make the room appear cluttered & small. Use table skirts & hide knick knacks under them.

Instead of using a lot of floor by keeping several pairs of shoes, use shoe rack to keep them in a small place.

You can easily hide your shoes under the bed with this shoe rack to make your flour clean

Designate and clear the pathway. The room will appear larger if you can see the floor.

If your room has low ceiling, painting one foot around the ceiling the same colour as the wall, creating a border, will make the wall appear taller.
If you paint the moulding a lighter shade of wall colour, the walls appear to recede making the room look larger.
